The vinyl home material has been around for so long, it has become a staple in almost every home in the country- be it vinyl floors, vinyl mats and even vinyl blinds. Vinyl’s greatest asset remains to be its resistance to moisture.

Costing much less than wooden or even fabric blinds, the vinyl blind is a favorite among home makers on a budget. Vinyl blinds resist water and moisture and therefore make a fantastic interior and outdoor material.

Since window treatments are exposed to both heat and cold, resilience is a main consideration for people who purchase blinds. Although some prefer the richness of wood and the texture of bamboo blinds, Vinyl blinds make the cut in terms of moisture-resistance.

This is not to say that Vinyl blinds are free from limitations. For one, they can not be stained or blasted like wood. Although they come in various colors because they are synthetic, vinyl blinds lack character lent by texture. It also lacks the warmth of the natural materials like wood and bamboo. Another limitation of the vinyl blinds is that it has size restraints and therefore can not be used for large rooms.

It is best to use this type of blinds in the kitchen, pool rooms and other parts of the home that are wet, warm or humid. They may be less fitting in the living room especially those designed with expensive and lavish furniture as this is not the most extravagant blind in the market. If you are looking to update the look of your home or to render elegance to your rooms, vinyl blinds shouldn’t exactly be your number 1 choice, there being other blinds more beautiful available in stores and online. Vinyl blinds also more flimsy than the other materials and will not last as long as wood or even aluminum blinds.

The design choices are limited and vinyl blinds are not as inviting as say, the matchstick blinds but home owners on a budget will find inexpensive options in this lot. Vinyl blinds may be a great short-term and quick fix option for home decorating. They do perform wonderfully but in the long run, choosing more sturdy materials may end up costing you less money.
